Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Celestial Guardian.
Featured cards

Celestial Guardian is a life splinter that costs 8 mana. This card starts with flying. It doeesn't learn any new abilities when it levels, but it does gain 2 health making it a tankier monster.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Fours a Crowd and Earthquake. This means that only 4 monsters can be used, and any non-flying monsters will take 2 physical damage per turn. There is also 30 mana available, and I can use every splinter except fire, water, and death.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Incessant Sage | 6 | Summoner | +1 Armor |
| Twice Yester Knight | 7 | 1st | |
| Celestial Guardian | 8 | 2nd | Flying |
| New Beluroc Aegis | 8 | 3rd | Taunt |
| Total Mana: | 29 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Incessant Sage for the +1 armor. Twice Yester Knight is my tank. After that is Celestial Guardian and New Beluroc Aegis. New Beluroc Aegis has taunt, so it will let my tank and Celestial Guardian live longer.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way. I do have taunt, so I can take some of the damage on the side, but my opponent also has Dread with heal so it will depend on who can kill faster.
Round 6

A few rounds later, my opponent's lineup is reduced to 1 monster, and I have 1 as well. I have this match won because my monster will attack first due to magic monsters moving before melee monsters and the earthquake damage.

I won the match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as planned. Celestial Guardian doesn't take the earthquake damage so it was able to outlast my opponent. I wasn't expecting to see a maxed-level dread, but Celestial Guardian pulled through with the turn order to win this match.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
