Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Time Bandit.

Featured cards

Great Bear Druid is a neutral splinter that costs 9 mana. This card starts with the duo magic and melee damage. Leveling this card increases its melee damage and speed by 1. As this is a frontier card, it can only be upgraded once. This was my first legendary card in Frontier, and it was also the first card that I maxed. At level 2, it has an extra speed and attack so it is more powerful.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Fire & Regret and Shades of Gray. This means that all monsters start off with the return fire ability, and only neutral monsters can be used. There is also 27 mana available, and I can use every splinter except for life.

Great Bear Druid92nd
Lunaki Howler73rd
Total Mana:26

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. I went with Marlai as my archon for the +1 magic, and Spellmonger is my tank. The thorns can help reduce damage if my opponent has a melee monster up front or an opportunity monster. After that are my two magic monsters Great Bear Druid and Lunaki Howler. Great Bear Druid is a good backup tank because it also has melee damage if it moves up.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is to my advantage because I have two magic monsters and one of them is the Druid while my opponent only has one.

Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent's lineup has just one while I still have two. However, my opponent will die to the burn, so this is my win.

I won the match as I expected.

Conclusion

The battle this time did go exactly as planned. I focused on trying to outlast my opponent using Dread and Time Bandit. With that, I was able to just win by outlasting my opponent. I think my opponent could have done better with a rearranged lineup, but it worked out regardless.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
