Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Ifrit Rising.
Featured cards

Ifrit Rising is a fire splinter that costs 8 mana. This card starts with the recharge ability, and later learns forcefield at level 4. I don't use this card too often because that recharge ability means it can only attack every 2 rounds.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Standard. This means that there are no extra modifiers in this fight. There is also 54 mana available, and I can use every splinter except for water, earth, or death.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eternan Brune | 6 | Summoner | -2 Armor |
| Living Lava | 7 | 1st | Shield |
| Chimney Wallstop | 10 | 2nd | Reach and Bloodlust |
| Ifrit Rising | 8 | 3rd | Recharge |
| Djinn Inferni | 7 | 4th | Giant Killing |
| Sand Worm | 9 | 5th | Sneak |
| Ettin Spearman | 8 | 6th | Pierce |
| Total Mana: | 55 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. I went with Eternan Brune as my archon for the -2 armor, and Living Lava is my tank because of the shield ability. Chimney Wallstop is my backup tank with reach and bloodlust. After that are my magic monsters Ifrit Rising and Djinn Inferni, both of which can deal big damage depending on the situation. After that is Sand Worm and Ettin Spearman as damage dealers.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but I have a slight advantage. I have more damage than my opponent, and it will take quite a bit of effort for my opponeent to kill off my living lava.
Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent's lineup is reduced to 2 monsters, while I still have 5. At this point, it is my win because my magic monsters alone will win this match for me, and my opponent can't even attack at this point in time.

I won the match as I expected.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as planned. I focused on trying to outlast my opponent by using some strong magic monsters, and Ifrit Rising did such a great job of killing off monsters. It dealt 9 magic damage every 2 turns, and that was enough to oneshot any monster it came up against.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
