Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Incessant Sage.
Featured cards

Incessant Sage is a lifesplinter that costs 6 mana. This archon gives +1 armor to all units on the field, and increasing its level allows you to use higher-level cards.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Born Again and Healed Out. This means that no monsters can heal, and all monsters gain the rebirth ability. There is also 34 mana available, and I can use every splinter except fire and water.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Incessant Sage | 6 | Summoner | +1 armor |
| Twice Yester Knight | 7 | 1st | |
| Celestial Guardian | 8 | 2nd | Flying |
| Hungry Ulund | 5 | 3rd | |
| A'lan Musketeer | 8 | 4th | Double Strike |
| Total Mana: | 34 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Incessant Sage because rebirth will keep that armor around, and this can help my monsters survive longer. After that is Celestial Guardian as a flying magic monster as my backup tank. Then I have two ranged damage dealers to help me focus down my opponent.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that I have the advantage in this match because I have more damage than my opponent, and my opponent needs to go through my armor before his ranged monster can deal damage to me.
Round 6

A few rounds later, my opponent's lineup is reduced to 1 monster, while I still have 3 of mine. It is my win because my opponent can't attack anymore.

I won the match as I expected.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as planned. Incessant Sage was a big help this match as it allowed me to tank quite a few extra hits, and that extra buffer made things easier for me. At the same time, my focus on damage made it easy for me to wipe out my opponent before he could take out my monsters.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
