Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Katrelba Gobson.

Featured cards

Katrelba Gobson is an earth splinter that costs 6 mana. This card has bloodlust, sneak, and double strike to start. Leveling this card increases its stats, and it gains snare at level 5 and cripple at level 9.

This is a card that I like to use often in Brawls. I don't have it very high level, but the double strike, sneak, and bloodlust combination is very powerful. It would be nice to have this at level 4 so it gains an extra damage, but it's still powerful at level 3.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Junior Varsity, Tis but Scratches, and No Pain, No Gain. This means that only monsters with a cost of 6 or lower can be used, and all monsters gain the cripple and painforge ability. There is also 31 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for fire and water.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Lobb Lowland for the -1 speed. My tank is Terraceous Grunt with dodge. After that is my backup tank Failed Summoner with magic reflect. I have Katrelba in the 5th position with Martyr monsters on both sides, and finally Venari Knifer with thorns.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but my opponent has the advantage due to level. I am glad that I had Knifer in the last spot to kill off my opponent's Katrelba. If I discount that, I still need quite a bit of luck to win this match.

Round 3

A few rounds later, my opponent has 2 monsters left while I have only 1 left. I have the speed advantage, but I can still win if I can land one of my two hits.

I won the match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time did not go exactly as planned, but it worked out well because I had the monsters in the right spots. Knifer took out my opponent's Gobson, and that martyr allowed my Gobson to stack some bloodlust to finally win the match.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
