Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Lenore Nevermore.
Featured cards

Lenore Nevermore is an death splinter that costs 6 mana. This card has the snipe ability to start. Leveling this card increases its health. It's slow, but it has decent health and damage for a Frontier card and mana cost.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Reverse Speed and Noxious Fumes. This means that all monsters start off poisoned, and attack order is reversed. There are also 27 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for fire and earth.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thalgrimore | 6 | Summoner | -1 Health |
| New Beluroc Aegis | 8 | 1st | Taunt |
| Sorrow Harvester | 7 | 2nd | Weaken |
| Lenore Nevermore | 6 | 3rd | Snipe |
| Total Mana: | 27 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Thalgrimore for the -1 health. New Beluroc Aegis is my tank with taunt, followed by Sorrow Harvester with weaken. Finally, I have Lenore Nevermore as a damage dealer.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but I have an advantage because both weaken and my archon decrease my opponent's health, so poison is more effective.
Round 6

A few rounds later, my opponent has 1 monsters left, but I still have all of mine. It's my win because my opponent will die from poison.

I won the match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle did go exactly as planned. I won because of Lenore Nevermore's health as it outlasted the poison. The combination of Sorrow Harvester and my archon did help a bit, as my opponent died one turn earlier due to it.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
