Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Mantaroth.

Featured cards

Mantaroth is a neutral splinter that costs 11 mana. This splinter starts with the shield and armored strike ability. This card learns true strike at level 2, repair at level 3, and blast at level 4. It is my best tank in Modern when the mana allows for it.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Standard. This means that there are no extra modifiers. There is also 33 mana available, and I can use every splinter except water, life, and dragon.

Mantaroth111stShield and Armored Strike
Mad Ogre Anarchist62ndOpportunity
Thanalorian Blade63rdExecute and Opportunity
Satha Toledo54thTank Heal
Total Mana:33

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Underboss Fabino for the +2 melee damage on 2 units. Mantaroth is my tank. Following that are my opportunity monsters Mad Ogre Anarchist and Thanalorian Blade, which will be boosted by my archon. Lastly, I have Satha Toledo with tank heal.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is my win. My opponent's damage is quite spread out, and there are quite a few monsters that can't attack from their current position. On my end, my monsters are quite tough, and my opportunity monsters can kill off a few every turn.

Round 3

A few rounds later, I still have all my monsters, but my opponent is down to 2. I have this match won because my opponent can't outdamage my heal.

I won the match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time did go exactly as planned. My lineup had a great tank in front of my enemy, and my opportunity damage just wiped out my opponent's low-health monsters. There wasn't much my opponent could do when the damage was so spread out, and Mantaroth was hard for them to kill with my healer alive.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
