Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Mantaroth.

Featured cards

Mantaroth is a neutral splinter that costs 11 mana. This splinter starts with the shield and armored strike ability. This card learns true strike at level 2, repair at level 3, and blast at level 4. It is my best tank in Modern when the mana allows for it.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Maneuvers. This means that all monsters gain the reach ability. There is also 75 mana available, and I can use only fire splinter.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Barthalamas for the +1 speed. My tank is Chaos Golem with return fire. My backup tank is Mantaroth with shield and armored strike. After that is Mad Ogre Anarchist with opportunity, and Chaos Evoker. Finally, I have two ranged monsters for damage. This lineup is all about damage, and having 2 ambush monsters will make it easier to kill off my opponent.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is my win. I just have more damage than my opponent, and my monsters are also faster due to my archon.

Round 2

round 2.png
A round later, my opponent has 3 monsters left while I have all of mine. My opponent doesn't have much left, and most of my monsters are also faster, so there is nothing my opponent can do.

I won the match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time did go exactly as planned. I just had the stronger lineup, and there wasn't anything my opponent could do. The damage combined with the speed allowed me to completely overpower my opponent. Mantaroth was dealing 6 damage per turn, and my ambush monsters softened up the monsters at the start.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
