Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Meriput Magician.

Featured cards

Meriput Magician is a life splinter that costs 5 mana. This splinter starts with the tank heal ability. Leveling up this card gives it shield at level 5, and strengthen at level 10. It's one of the cards moved out of the modern set, so I only use this in Brawls, and I like it for the heals.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Broken Arrows and Dragon Breath. This means that no ranged monsters can be used, and ranged/magic monsters will land burn on their hits. There is also 72 mana available, and I can use only life splinter.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Franz Ruffmane for the +1 armor. My tank is Silverblade Fighter with flank, followed by Drybone Barbarian. Next up is Sand Worm with sneak followed by my magic monsters. Time Mage makes my opponent slower, and Captain Katie's snipe can apply burn to a backline monster. Finally, Meriput Magician's tank heal will help keep my tanks alive.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but I have a slight advantage due to Captain Katie, and my healer can keep my tanks alive longer.

Round 3

A few rounds later, my opponent is down to 2 monsters while I have 3. The burn will finish off one of my opponent's monsters, and my speed advantage will give me the win as I attack first.

I won the match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle did go exactly as planned. Meriput Magician did a great job of helping me keep my tanks alive so the rest of my lineup can focus on damage. Captain Katie was also quite nice as that burn and snipe damage added up over time.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
