Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I saw a battle where I saw a new ruleset.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Rise of the Junior Varsity and Elite Force. This means that you can't use common cards, and only monsters with a mana cost lower than 6. There is also 42 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for fire, water, death, or life.

Total Mana:28

My summoner is Obsidian for the +1 magic. I have Xenith Monk as my tank with heal. After that is Grimbardun Smith as a backup tank with immunity. The remainder is some magic and ranged monsters.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. I have my tanks soak up the damage, while the rest of my lineup deals damage. The Magic monsters are my main source of damage.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that my opponent has the advantage in this match due to the damage advantage that my opponent has. I just don't see myself winning due to my opponent's archon negating my archon.

Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent has lost 1 monster while I have lost 3. There is no chance that I can win at this point because my monsters will die off quite fast.

I won later that round.

Conclusion

The battle did not go exactly as planned. My reliance on magic monsters failed due to my opponent's archon, and there wasn't much that I could do. It was a new ruleset, but removing common cards limits your choices, and I feel that those matches will be tougher for me. I didn't win this match though.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
