Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Mystic Scaleweaver.

Featured cards

Mystic Scaleweaver is a water splinter that costs 9 mana. It starts with slow. Leveling this card does not give it any new abilities, but it does increase its magic damage by 1.

I think this is the strongest magic monster in all of Frontier due to the slow ability. With the stats being so close for most monsters, the -1 speed can help quite a bit in fights, and the magic damage it can output is quite high. Add in its high health, and it can work decently as a backup tank.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Born Again and Briar Patch. This means that all monsters gain the Rebirth and Thorns Ability. There is also 25 mana available, and I can use every splinter except fire, earth, and life.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Marlai Singariel for the +1 magic. Asel Alagosdil is my tank with divine shield. After that is Water-Logged Wizard and Mystic Scaleweaver as magic damage dealers.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is my win. My opponent's camel has to go through Asel's armor, and my opponent is also slower due to Mystic Scaleweaver.

Round 3

A few rounds later, my opponent is down to just 1 monster left, while I still have all of mine. This is my win because my opponent can't outdamage me.

I won the match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time did go exactly as planned. This was a comfortable win due to Mystic Scaleweaver. Its slow allowed me to attack first, and that is a huge advantage over my opponent. My opponent also had his damage spread out, and that benefitted me.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
