Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used A'lan Musketeer.
Featured cards
Scales of Justice is a fire monster that costs 5 mana. It only has the dodge and untrainable ability. Leveling this card only gives it higher stats.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan
The rulesets this time are Target Practice and Fours a Crowd. This means that only up to 4 monsters can be used, and ranged/magic monsters gain the snipe ability. There is also 30 mana available, and I can use every splinter except water and death.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Barthalamas for the +1 speed. Frankarsgard is my tank. After that is Chaos Furybringer with reach. My third monster is Scales of Justice for the magic/ranged monsters, and finally Ash Archer as a damage dealer.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way. My opponent has more damage and higher level monsters, but I can still win if Scales of Justice can dodge enough attacks.
Round 3
A few rounds later, my opponent is down to just 2 monsters left, while I have only lost 1 monster. This is my win because I have faster monsters, so my opponent won't be able to deal damage anymore.
I won the match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as planned. Scales of Justice dodged so many attacks, and that gave me the buffer I needed to win this match. The rest of my lineup was able to focus on damage, and this let me win despite the level disadvantage over my opponent.
