Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Time Bandit.
Featured cards

Time Bandit is an Earth splinter that costs 9 mana. This splinter starts off with the cleanse ability, but leveling it does increase its stats. I use this card quite a lot, depending on the ruleset, because that cleanse can be helpful.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Global Warming and Heavy Hitters. This means that all monsters start off with the knock-out ability, and they also start off burned. There is also 27 mana available, and I can use every splinter except for life and dragon.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aurelia | 6 | Summoner | +1 Health |
| Spellmonger | 4 | 1st | Thorns |
| Dread Tafarian | 9 | 2nd | Heal |
| Time Bandit | 8 | 3rd | Cleanse |
| Total Mana: | 27 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. Spellmonger is my tank because some of those melee monsters can be a pain to take care of, and thorns can help me out there. Dread Tafarian is my backup tank with heal. Finally, I have Time Bandit with cleanse to help my frontline survive longer, and it has decent health.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is to my advantage because I have higher health monsteers in the back. That snipe monster is a bit annoying though, but it spreads out my opponent's damage so I should be able to outlast him.
Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent's lineup has just one while I still have two. However, my opponent will die to the burn, so this is my win.

I won the match as I expected.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as planned. I focused on trying to outlast my opponent using Dread and Time Bandit. With that, I was able to just win by outlasting my opponent. I think my opponent could have done better with a rearranged lineup, but it worked out regardless.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
