Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Time Bandit.
Featured cards

Time Bandit is an Earth splinter that costs 9 mana. This splinter starts off with the cleanse ability, but leveling it does increase its stats. I use this card quite a lot, depending on the ruleset, because that cleanse can be helpful.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Noxious Fumes and Armored Up. This means that all monsters gain +2 armor and start off poisoned. There is also 39 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for dragon.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aurelia | 6 | Summoner | +1 Health |
| Dread Tafarian | 9 | 1st | Heal |
| Mad Gearhead | 6 | 2nd | Reach |
| Time Bandit | 8 | 3rd | Cleanse |
| New Beluroc Aegis | 8 | 4th | Taunt |
| Total Mana: | 37 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Aurelia for the +1 health. My tank is Dread Tafarian with heal. My backup tank is Mad Gearhead with reach. Then I have Time Bandit followed by New Beluroc Aegis with taunt.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but I have the advantage. I have cleanse, heal, and taunt, so my Dread can survive for quite a while.
Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent has 4 monsters left while I have 3. However, my opponent will lose 2 of them due to poison, and my Dread is still alive.

I won the match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as planned. Dread Tafarian was such a great tank, and Time Bandit only made it better with that cleanse removing the poison. There wasn't anything my opponent could do when they had to go through my taunt monster first, so the poison dealt massive damage to my opponent.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
