Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I saw a battle where I took advantage of the ruleset to win the match.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Rise of the Blood Moon and Dragon Breath. This means that all monsters gain the bloodlust ability, and ranged/magic monsters will burn monsters. There is also 24 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for dragon.

Argarux Magus33rdScattershot
Nimbledook Ranger74thSnipe and Double Strike
Total Mana:25

My summoner is Kelya Frendul for the +1 speed and armor. I have Alva the Crusher as my tank with shield. After that is Venari Wavesmith with protect and Argarux Magus with scattershot. Nimbledook Ranger is my last monster with snipe.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. I have my tanks soak up the damage, while the rest of my lineup deals damage. I have a magic/ranged monsters targeting different monsters, or at least a chance, so that burn can be applied to as many monsters as I can.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that my opponent has the advantage in this match due the Dragon Breath ruleset. That burn will hurt my opponent, and my opponent only has melee monsters so that burn won't be applied to me.

Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent has 1 monster while I still have all of mine. There is no way for my opponent to turn this around because that burn will kill him off

I won later that round.

Conclusion

The battle did go exactly as planned. It was too bad that my monsters in the back couldn't burn that back monster until the tank died, but having my ranged/magic monsters apply burn to multiple monsters was a great strategy. My opponent didn't have any so it made the fight quite easy for me.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
