Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Venari Knifer.

Featured cards

Venari Knifer is an earth splinter that costs 6 mana. This monster starts off with thorns, and later learns backfire at level 6. This is a very situational card for me, but those thorns can be very useful.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Aim True and Heavy Hitters. This means that monsters can't miss and they all gain the knock-out ability. There is also 60 mana available, and I can use every splinter except fire and water.

Quilliun Legionary82ndThorns
Sand Worm93rdSneak
Katrelba Gobson64thDouble Strike, Sneak, and Bloodlust
Goblin Psychic65thTank Heal
Venari Knifer66thThorns
Total Mana:46

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Wizard of Eastwood because of the -2 armor. Mycelic Infantry is my tank with shield, and my backup tank is Quilliun Legionary with thorns. After that are my sneak damage dealers, and these monsters are my main backline damage. After that is Goblin Psychic with tank heal and Venari Knifer in the last spot for any sneak monsters.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that my opponent has the advantage due to Quora and Katrelba on his team, along with all those martyr monsters. It depends on whether or not I can overcome that Quora.

Round 6

A few rounds later, my opponent's lineup is reduced to 2 monsters, and I still have 5. Overall, I think I can still win this match because I have plenty of damage, but Quora can still wreck my team if I am not careful.

I won the match because my damage was able to overcome that heal and bloodlust.

Conclusion

The battle this time did go exactly as planned. I took a gamble by having a thorn monster in the last spot, and that worked out in my favor, as that did kill my opponent's Katrelba Gobson. This drastically reduced my opponent's damage, and I was able to keep the rest of my backline alive to deal damage to overcome Quora.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
