Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Lost Magic rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Lost Legendaries and Maneuvers. This means that no legendary monsters can be used and all monsters gain the reach ability. There is also 16 mana available and I am left with the choice of earth, life, or death splinter.

The summoner I chose to use this time is Thaddius Brood. It reduces my enemy's health and magic by 1. Its also my highest level death summoner so I can use my cards to their highest level.

Total Mana:16

I plan to use Cursed Windeku as my first tank for the thorns and heal. Then I have Carrion Shade in the 2nd spot because it can attack due to the reach ability from the ruleset. My third monster has protect and inspire to help my monsters survive and deal more damage. My last monster is a monster with dodge to counter any sneak monsters

Round 1

At first glance, I think that the match can go either way. My melee monsters have quite a bit of damage and my damage is boosted by the inspire ability. So I have 8 damage per turn compared to the 5 damage per turn from my opponent but he can poison me. It will be a fight of endurance between Cursed Windeku and which one dies first.

Round 2

round 2.png
I took out one monster so my opponent's damage dropped even more but I had my tank poisoned. However, I can kill off Cursed Windeku this round if I don't miss any attacks.

Round 3

round 3.png
I managed to take out the Cursed Windeku so this match is my win. The poison and the magic damage will be healed every round so there is no chance for my opponent to win unless I miss every attack for 17 rounds.

A few rounds later I won the match.

Conclusion

The battle did go as I expected. My choice to use Cursed Windeku as my tank worked out. I was a bit worried when I saw another Cursed Windeku with the same abilities on my opponent's side. What turned the fight in my direction was the Ravenhood Warden and its abilities. It reduced the damage that I took and it also increased my melee damage. With that, the Carrion Shade dealt enough damage to kill off the Cursed Windeku and I won the match, but it was closer than I would like.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.
