Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Sand Worm.

Featured cards

Wilhelmdale Deputy is an earth splinter that costs 7 mana. This splinter doesn't start with any abilities, but it does gain the snare skill at level 2. I have this card at level 4, and I use it quite often whenever I use Earth in Frontier due to its three ranged damage.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time areStandard. This means there are no positive or negative effects. There is also 26 mana available, and I can use earth, life, or death splinter.

It's rare to see a battle where no other effects are active. In a way, it's a battle to see how well you can plan your own lineup.

Total Mana:26

My summoner is Aurelia for its +1 health. My tank is Dread Tafarian with heal. Then I have Spellmonger with thorns, and Wilhelmdale Deputy as my damage dealer.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while trying to outlast my opponent. The heal monster up front will try to outlast my opponent, and the thorns monster is there to attract any opportunity monster. Finally, my ranged damage dealer is out there to help me deal more damage.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way. My Spellmonger will take out that opportunity monster, but my opponent has higher-level cards than me. It will depend on who can kill Dread Tafarian first.

Round 4

round 4.png
My opponent is left with one monsters while I have two. However, my opponent's Dread Tafarian is dead so there is no way my opponent can outdamage the heal. So this is my win.

I won that match a few rounds later.

Conclusion

The battle this time went exactly as planned. I made my lineup to kill my opponent's Dread Tafarian first, and that let me win. More damage sometimes is enough to make up for the difference in levels for our monsters.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
