HELLO HIVE
For some people this is a thought-provoking question, and for others they feel a sense of indifference towards the question. Neatness is in degrees, while some tend to be very neat, others moderately, and some let's just skip that part.

There's so much at risk when it comes to a dirty environment, even though the major one would probably be health; our social well can also be gravely affected by our level of hygiene.
It affects physical well-being in terms of exposure to certain diseases that inhibit fast growth activities in areas that are very dirty. When you look through a microscope and view the places we term as neat and observe the kinds of microorganisms that our eyes can't see in their millions and billions, you would understand why our hygiene shouldn't be a thing to joke about, but then you can't always fight these deadly microorganisms completely, but at least we can limit the exposure to them.
It's just like when we talk about exposure to radiation: the more you are exposed to it, the greater your chances of being affected. But then our immune system would also play another; still comparing this to radiation, the nature and effect actually vary from person to person, so someone with an initially weak immune system could be exposed to deadly infections in a way that is more damaging compared to a healthy person.

I would love to cite an example of my younger brother, who was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis in November 2024. Now it was obvious that this was an infectious disease that he had contacted from somewhere, someone, or something dirty. Now the amount of money spent on his treatment and still being spent is way more than the amount of money that would have been spent on keeping things around clean; the finances matter isn't even the painful side, but the pain the kid went through because of the infection.

The mental side of things is the stigma that comes with it even though the persons involved might not notice it, but the environment does.

Personal and community hygiene is very important to survive the above-mentioned challenges that come as a result of infections from dirty environments.
You will enjoy better air quality, especially in places where the ventilation is poor, like areas around my place that has no estate development law that controls how structures are built, the level of space, and the direction of cross-air ventilation.

Improved mood and mental clarity: a hygienic environment has this way of improving our mental health and mood. I don't know if there is any study to back this up, but it's what I feel; I don't know about you.

Stronger immunity: there are people who lose their lives after surgical procedures that were successful because of exposures to infection from the operating room or the tools; the same is said about our home: we expose ourselves to so much infection if we don't keep the environment clean, even though it will be more dangerous for surgical patients because of openings that have exposed the inner part of their body to infection penetration.
Finally, a clean environment. The community has this positive image about them that's a result of the hygienic environment they live in.
