Today is the third of December, and I want to share the news I heard earlier this morning around 1. pm. It was a true life story, and it was told by one of the best newscasters on one of my favorite radio stations.
The preacher is an AkwaIbomite, though I don't know which part of Akwa Ibom State he's from.Akwa Ibom State is in Nigeria.
I was busy doing my assignment when the news came, so I couldn't help but stop what I was doing and pay close attention to the news since it was becoming so interesting.
I love listening to news that is important, and in the end, I will learn a lesson from there.
According to the news, there was a man called pastor peter. Before he became a pastor he did something abominable in the sight of God and man, though it wasn't his fault.
When he was about twenty-two years of age, his father was a soothsayer. So when his father died, his father's people, demanded a virgin's head. And they didn't see anyone else to send aside from him, since he was the eldest son.
So out of fear of being killed by his father's people, he began to search for a virgin. So on his way to find a virgin, he met a little girl. And the news had it that she was walking alone.
So when he saw this girl, he was so excited. He caught this girl in his hands, and he took her into the bush. He lay her straight, before he bought out a knife from his pocket.
So when he was about to cut this girl's head, she shouted and pleaded that he shouldn't kill her. But instead of allowing the girl to go, he used a red handkerchief to cover her eyes.
He started cutting the girl's head. She wept bitterly and pleaded that he should stop he refused to. So when the girl was about to give up, she made a statement.
She told him that since he had refused to let her go, every female child that his wife would give birth to would die untimely.
He succeeded in killing her. He took her head to his father's people. So they took it and dropped it in his father's coffin before they buried him.
A few years later, he got married to a beautiful lady, and fortunately for him, his wife got pregnant. So on the day of delivery, she delivered a beautiful baby girl. But what baffled everyone was the fact that the girl was dead, and a red handkerchief was used to cover her eyes.
So when he went to the hospital to visit his wife, he heard the most terrible news in his life. He didn't know the meaning of that, even when he was asked because he forgot about what he did forty years ago.
Everyone wept for that great loss. A few months later, she became pregnant again, and she gave birth to a baby girl, and the same thing still repeated itself.
So his wife's parents asked him to follow them to a place where they would tell them the cause of their predicament, and how to solve it. But he refused to go, telling them that he was a pastor and he couldn't go there, so they allowed him to do what was in his mind.
So when his wife conceived the third time, she gave birth to a baby boy, and the same thing happened, then his wife died along the process.
His wife's family took eight hundred thousand to the man who wanted to help them look for a solution.
The man revealed to them everything he did when he was much younger and also told them that the innocent girl placed a cause on his family.
He further told them that death would continue in his family, even to those who were not aware of his evil.
So they gave an option. The option was that pastor peter would bring one tortoise, two vultures, and two lizards. Those animals were to be cooked, and pastor peter was to eat them from 2. am to 3. am in the morning. Then when he's done eating, no evil would occur again in his family.
Aside from that, his wife's family asked him to return the eight hundred thousand naira they spent.
So when they returned, they told pastor peter what the man said. He told them he did what the man said, but he wouldn't be able to eat all those things.
So, out of fear, he rushed to the radio station and asked them to read it as their morning news so he could get some contributions from people on what to do concerning this matter on the ground.
So when this news was released, many people gave their contributions. Some people said it was what he sowed, that he was about reaping. They told him to go and eat those animals; if he survives, he should thank God, but if he dies, he should take that as his fate.
Another set of contributors came in. They said he shouldn't eat those animals, but rather he should go to God and confess his sin so that God would forgive him. And even if he died, his soul would rest in peace.
They said this because the news has it that he killed the girl when he didn't know God, even though he was a grown-up guy.
It was a complicated situation, my brothers and sisters. I didn't know what to contribute at that particular moment.
Because I believe he had a living conscience when he was doing that. I still believe his conscience told him not to kill that innocent girl, but he ignored it and still went ahead to do that.
In conclusion, whatever a man sows, that shall he reap. Know what you're doing at your youthful age so that it won't turn out to be a thing of disgrace to you tomorrow.
And also to our parents, never involve yourself in what you know is not good. Don't be the reason your children do what they wouldn't have done in their entire life. Stop making life miserable for your children I beg you.
