Eragon is a fantasy adventure movie released in 2006. The film is based on the popular novel called Eragon by Christopher Paolini. It is about a youthful farm boy named Eragon, who finds an enigmatic blue dragon egg. A dragon is born when the egg hatches and named Saphira, and Eragon's life changes forever.

The film centers on Eragon, who discovers that he is one of a select few individuals – Dragon Riders – who have been chosen to safeguard the land. With Saphira he starts an adventurous quest to battle against an evil king named Galbatorix. As he journeys, he is advised by Brom, an old wizard with great knowledge about Dragon Riders. They fight, they perform magic, they are friends and they are courageous in this adventure.

What I like about Eragon is the fantastic world that was created. The scenes of the landscapes are so impressive and the scenes of flying with Saphira are very exciting! The dragon's design is also very good, particularly with the technology available during the production of the film. I think the relationship between Eragon and Saphira is interesting because it has a lot of trust, loyalty and teamwork.

The film has a powerful message of responsibility and courage. Eragon is a normal young man, with little knowledge of the world. Challenges cross his path and he learns to make tough decisions and stand up for what is right. The section of the story can inspire viewers to be courageous when they encounter difficult situations.

However, the movie is not perfect. The plot of the novel has some moments of such rapid action that it is not easy to get attached to some characters. Even fans of the book were disappointed as they had left numerous details from the novel unchanged. I wanted the movie to have gone through the characters and the world more, but it didn't, and that's something it could have done.

The acting is alright and the action scenes keep the movie interesting. It does not have to be one of the best fantasy movies in the history of cinema but it is still a great film for those who enjoy dragon-adventure-magic stories. I feel younger audiences and those with a love for fantasy might be particularly interested.

In conclusion, Eragon is a fun fantasy film that features some really cool effects, an interesting dragon character and an adventurous story line. Does not do a full justice to the original book; but still fun. The themes of friendship, courage and destiny were great and I loved watching it.

My Rating: 7/10

Eragon is my recommendation for anyone who loves fantasy adventure and stories on heroes finding their purpose.
