My career has focused on studying business, leadership, innovation and human behavior for over 30 years. What I've learned is that there's always a big change in every generation of entrepreneurs. That change is Artificial Intelligence (AI) today. The advent of AI has revolutionized the way businesses function, how customers are being served, and how decisions are being made. The rules of entrepreneurial leadership are evolving, therefore.

The key resource for the past few years was hard work, experience, and information. In today's world, information is ubiquitous, and AI tools can process data much quicker than any human can. This implies the end of “knowledge as leadership” and the start of “knowledge as a capability”. Rather, it is a matter of asking the appropriate inquiries, making sound choices, and employing technology appropriately.

The entrepreneur that will be successful in this new economy won't be against AI, he or she will be with AI. Leadership is a new commandment that is to learn and learn. Business is evolving at a rapid pace. Technologies that currently appear cutting-edge can turn out to be relics of yesterday.

We entrepreneurs need to be curious and to learn new skills. I find people start to grow when they feel they know everything. Great leaders are humble enough to learn, they are brave enough to change.

The other rule is to keep people first. While AI can do a lot of things, like automate tasks, analyse trends and generate ideas, it cannot replace human emotions, trust and relationships, entirely. Users are still expecting to be understood. Employees continue to crave appreciation. Honesty and respect are still desired by partners. Human connection is more valuable in an AI-driven economy. Entrepreneurs who care, show empathy, will create better companies than those who depend on technology.

The new economy also requires quicker decision making. While AI can offer valuable insights within seconds, the decision on the direction lies with the entrepreneurs. Leadership requires courage. It's always going to be uncertain, and no technology can lower all the risks. I have come to understand that a successful leader makes decisions based on information, takes responsibility and proceeds with confidence when the future is uncertain.

There's another rule that must not be neglected: Integrity. Ethics is increasingly more critical in the era of evolving powerful AI. Customers will not be pleased if they are not sure their information is secure or the business is using technology appropriately. Trust can take years to earn and just moments to destroy. If you're being honest and transparent, people will be loyal to you and nothing a machine could do would replace that.

Lastly, visionaries are the greatest entrepreneurial leaders in an AI-driven economy. They don't fear change, they embrace it. They view challenges as opportunities and innovation as a means to generate value creation. I'm not afraid of AI taking the place of entrepreneurs. It is here to inspire those who will grow, learn and lead wisely.

The future belongs to those who lead with technology, with humanity, with intelligence, with integrity, with innovation and with purpose. By accepting these new rules, we will not only be successful business owners, but we are also going to establish a better future for those that we are serving.
