I think it's important to help others. We meet people on an everyday basis that are dealing with a different problem. There are some who require financial help, others advice and some who only require encouragement or support. I feel a sense of responsibility to help when I see others in need and I have the means and ability to do so. To me, service to others is not something that I do from time to time, it is the way I live and the kind of person I want to be.
There's a lot of human sympathy that's what drives me to help. I suppose I feel concerned when I see people through tough times. I will often think about putting myself in their place and what I would think and feel if I had their situation. Life is unpredictable, and at any time, anyone can find themselves in a difficult circumstance. Therefore I feel that compassion and kindness should be displayed wherever possible. At times, a few positive words can provide someone with hope and strength to continue moving forward.
I also believe that kindness is a way of life, so that's motivating me to help. I don't think that it's only when it is convenient, when we have lots of things to give.I don't believe that Only When It's Convenient is the time to help other people or Only When We Have A Lot is the time to help other people. It doesn't take much to make a big difference. For instance, explaining a challenging subject, sharing information that helps, supporting a friend when he/she is in trouble, or even praying a sincere prayer can have a positive effect on a person's life. These may appear insignificant but can have a significant impact for a person who is struggling.
I think that assisting others is assisting the building of stronger communities, too. This is a better society to live in, because people look out for each other. If people help one another, they can overcome their problems and their relationships will be strengthened. When you do well, it's apt to inspire others to do well as well. If someone receives kindness they may be encouraged to do the same with someone else. By assisting others, positivity and hope ripple outwards across the community, resulting in a ripple effect.It becomes a chain reaction of positivity and hope through the community when people are helped.
My faith and personal values also influence me to help. I think love, compassion and generosity should be qualities that all people should work to acquire. When I help others I remember that this is not just about personal success, but making a difference to the lives of others as well. It makes me feel fulfilled and productive, as I know I am doing something that is useful.
I'm there for people to help them, and sometimes I'm there to help them be happy, but that's not the reason I'm there to help, it's the appreciation that is nice. I do not serve others with the intent that others will think highly of me, or praise me. Indeed, some of the best kind deeds occur in secret and remain undetected. The most rewarding thing is seeing a smile, a sense of relief or hope in someone's eyes because of the help they received. I am really happy when I know that I've helped improve someone's life in some way.
One of the motivating factors for me is that I have also had others help me in various parts of my life. At times someone gave me direction, encouragement, or support when I needed it. Those experiences were a lesson to me of the greatness of kindness. They also reminded me that no one does everything on his own. I feel good about being helped by others, and want to do the same for others around me.
So, for me, it's a mixture of sympathy, compassion, values and a need to make kindness a lifestyle. I think the best way to do something positive in the world is to help those in need. The help is either big or small; the thing is, it matters. Together, we can increase our community strength, share our optimism, and make life a little better for all of us.
