Motivational speakers often get dragged through the mud by people who say that what they are preaching is unrealistic and inapplicable to real-life scenarios. Truth be told, a lot of motivational speakers tend to just say words that are ludicrous whenever they are hyped.

One of the most common things they say is that "You are okay the way you are".

Really?

I know they say it with good intentions because they don't want people to develop low self-esteem. They also say that to make people feel confident in who they are.

However, that isn't something to casually say to just anyone. Imagine saying that to a young adult who's wasting his/her time doing things that are not going to help augment his/her life. How can you tell that person that he's okay the way he/she is?

Seriously, that's where motivational speakers start to lose my attention. I'm a big fan of listening or even reading motivational materials. Thankfully, the internet and all the platforms that allow content upload make it very easy for me to have access to these motivational materials.

I'm someone who likes to be very realistic about life. I've seen both the shiny and the dark side of life. I like to be logical when going through the things life throws on my path. I sure have some words I've heard from all sorts of people including motivational speakers.

A lot of those words have helped me to take steps in different areas of my life, take responsibility for myself and those I care about, and become a better version of myself.

Do you know Jordan Peterson?

What about David Goggins?

These brilliant folks are the sort of motivational speakers I enjoy their material. I vibe to what they say, and I can relate with them because the things they say are backed by genuine hard work. They don't just say things; they practice the things they preach, and I've learned so much by listening to them.

Take this video for an example;

Part of the thing I like about his takes in the interview is that he always mentions the importance of personal responsibility in the growth and development we experience as we go through life. He's very deep in that.

Jordan Peterson also has an interesting opinion in one of his videos where he talked about people who have become 30-year-old infants. That particular video lives rent-free in my mind and I'm laser focused about my life to be sure I won't turn into a adult who runs from responsibilities.

So, I believe it's fairly obvious that I listen to motivational speakers but I'm very careful when curating the sort of motivational speakers I vibe to their content. Even when I listen to my favorite speakers, I'm still open-minded enough to decide what I will vibe with and what I would ignore.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.
