Is AI truly the enemy? To be honest I would say in a way it is, because a gun is a gun no matter who is holding it. And for AI, technically everyone is holding it. Imagine how the world would be if everyone owned a gun, that is exactly how the world is with everyone having access to AI. It doesn’t matter whether you are shooting to protect or to kill, the fact still remains that it does only one job and that is killing. It doesn’t matter if you kill the innocent or kill the guilty, the fact is that a gun was programmed for only one thing and that is to cause harm. Although the kind of harm it causes is solely dependent on whose hand it is in, we can not still dispute the fact that it was made to cause harm at the end of the day. Does this mean that it is good to cause harm, or does it mean that only a certain kind of people deserve to be harmed.

Now when we look at AI, some see tools, others see weapons and there are those who see opportunities. However, we can not deny the fact that AI was meant to be useful to humans and perform tasks directed by humans. So what if the task is to impersonate someone, the AI can not refuse because it was programmed to follow commands. People are dangerous, and a dangerous tool in the hands of a dangerous person can be very disastrous. AI in the wrong hands can cause a lot of damage and this is the reason why if I had my way I would prefer it to be in trained hands instead of untrained hands. Let’s be honest, how many people really know how to use AI? In my office for example I see a lot of people struggle with things AI can do, and even when you suggest using AI, they can for no reason at all come to the understanding that AI can really help them.
But yet they have access to it. Scammers on the other hand use it to make their jobs easier, meanwhile those who really need it can not use it to make their lives easier which makes me wonder what these people can really do. I think AI should not be accessed by everyone, just as we need to go to school to become doctors, there should be a status a person should reach before they can be given access to the use of AI. This would mean that it would be easier to track those who are abusing it because the users will have some sort of a license that gives them the privilege to use it. The license would also have some sort of a tracking system that helps track the activities of the users because if we must face the truth, AI can be weaponized and it can be dangerous in the hands of the wrong people.
