Introverts like me would never make friends the conventional way, I can not imagine walking up to someone and just talking with them, in fact the thought of it terrifies me. I do not even have the guts to stop a lady on the road and talk to her or even a guy. I mean what do I say, how will I start, so I don’t even like people I do not know LOL. This is simple, why like someone I would not be able to talk to. The fact that I am too shy to say what’s on my mind or I will eventually feel stupid for saying what’s on my mind makes me back down. But then again this does not mean I lack friends, in fact I will say I have a handful of them, and I am content. There are those who want to be friends with me, and to be honest I would never turn down a hand of friendship so long as it is defined. I have online friends, and I have offline friends. There are those I have met online and had great bonds with even though we have never seen each other face to face.

This is why I would always say a friend is a friend no matter where you meet. At the end of the day, meeting someone who gets you and loves you not for what you can offer but for who you are is always a great asset to have, and for me, there is no greater blessing than the blessing of people who genuinely love you. But does this mean that because I have lots of online friends I do not need the physical ones. The answer is no. Imagine being on a video call with your online friend in another country and suddenly they have a heart attack. What would you do knowing you are the only friend they have? You can not even call 911 because it’s not your country code. A friend is there for times of trouble, and this is the fact. No matter where you are and how you are, there are always people like you, people who want to be close to you, people who would like you for you, and they are around you.

People are not alone in life because they lack admirers, they are alone because they refuse to allow people into their lives for one reason or another and to be honest I have seen this happen a lot of times. Especially with people who have gotten hurt or disappointed in the past. They begin to refrain from social interactions, some will decide to just face their work online and try to make friends with people who will never meet them. Others have low self esteem and thus are withdrawn, and others are just ashamed of who they are and how they look and having online friends who would not see them that way just seems like their only escape. But I do not think this is a right way to live, in fact you might be killing someone by not agreeing to be their friend, there are those who would have been alive today if they had friends. I am alive today because I have physical friends.
