I didn't enjoy the Christmas celebration last year, which was majorly because of the accident I had that made me bedridden alongside other things that we're going on in my personal life and family. Although we celebrated it, my dad was majorly at work, there was food and all, but if I was to be sincere with myself, I wasn't feeling any of it. It's funny how life situations could affect how we respond to things including celebrations. I remember seeing all the food and drinks without appetite because my heart was heavy. I love food, good food for that matter, so the pain was different for me. And stepping into the new year, scared if I would lose my leg as my wounds aren't healing. But I'm happy it's all over now.

So that brings me to my best Christmas celebration ever, if I'm to be honest, it was my best celebration ever. If you know the feeling of having your whole world crash down with problems of life, and suddenly take a beautiful turn within seconds… that feeling is nothing like I have ever felt in my life. It's like what the bible describes as the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, it concluded that they became like those that dreamt. Indeed it was like a dream for my family and I. One moment there was nothing to feed on talkless celebration, the next moment we were celebrating so much that we had enough to give to others.

That period, my family had been going through hell, my dad was seriously indebted, and he was being paraded from one police cell to another. It was so bad that after we were able to struggle out my dad's release, we had nothing to celebrate a week until Christmas. We were begging to eat as a family, and through that week we survived on what people were kind enough to give us. On Christmas Eve, we had planned not to go anywhere, my dad couldn't bear the frustration of not being able to provide for his family. He just looked at my younger ones and started shedding tears.

We didn't allow them to go out and so they wouldn't be intimidated by other kids who had new clothes, shoes and toys to play with. We also decided that we wouldn't allow anyone to come visit because there was nothing to offer them. That Christmas night, my dad got a call to go to the refinery the next day (Christmas day) so he went early in the morning, and surprisingly, he got a contract he applied for a long time ago, he had even stopped pursuing the contract but was given based on recommendation from someone he never knew. That same day he got money for the contract which was more than enough to start work and settle more than half of the debts he was owing, and still had enough for the family.

By about 12:00 PM that day my dad transferred some money to my mum for us to go shopping, and also to cook the Christmas food. The way we ate that day was unforgettable, we ate everything our eyes could see, invited people over to our house, got really nice clothes and made a memorable Christmas. To date I can't forget that feeling, I was speechless throughout the day, I would just look at everything around me and smile seeing how our fortune could change in the twinkle of an eye.
