I have thought about a reunion a lot of times but I know one thing for sure, if that should ever happen it won’t be the way we envision it. Back in school we had friends and classmates, especially in high school when some of us even had bonds and people who stuck closer than our own family. But then again I look at myself now and I discover that I have changed and it is just the reality of things. Then we were innocent to a certain degree, now we are not so innocent. And even if I want to see my classmates the major question is if they would want to see me because the fact still remains that we have all changed. I saw two of my classmates on two occasions when I travelled home. One was a bike rider in the community where we schooled, he probably did not go further than high school. The other is a shoe clubler in the same community.

One time I knew my classmates wanted to have a reunion, they even created a whatsapp group and added me but I left the group because I was not in the mental state to deal with any familiarity. That was a period where life was dealing with me so bad and I just needed to keep my head down. If such an opportunity arises again I probably might go this time, not because I have much, but because I am in a better place mentally than I was then. But then again there is an unspoken truth we all know, a lot of the time the reason why people call for these things is to show the rest of their peers how much they have accomplished in life which for me is a very bad reason for a reunion. If I was to organize a reunion, I would either secretly sponsor it fully but make it as simple as possible and make sure the setting does not alarm anyone or make them feel less of who they are.

I mean if we should have a beach reunion, it would be awkward to wear gold don’t you think. But then again this is not something one can fully control. If for any reason I even go for a reunion I would not be going to reopen closed chapters, I am an introvert and every one knows that, but then the reason I would choose to be reserved is simple. We have all changed and experienced things that we can not just talk about in a day. Our perspective about life has changed and we are no longer as innocent as we used to be. Thus I can not trust them for anything and would treat them as a familiar acquaintance except the vibes come uncontrollably and we reminisce about the past. But then again, there are only very few of my classmates I would be comfortable enough to gist with if they are open to it, and they are no more than two.
