When it comes to surviving in a wicked world, a lot of people will never know what it entails or how to really survive. I do not think it is a matter of skill alone, I think it has more to do with how strong a person’s mind is and the will to live. A lot of people will die without support not because they lack the basic skill to live but because their mind is too small to think they can get out of the predicament that they are in. Some will die because they can not phantom the fact that they can survive on their own. The will to survive anything takes people further than any skill can ever take them because even those with talent and skill but lack a strong mind would die out of fear. One of the things that happens to a person who is left to fend for himself is the fear of the unknown. A lot of people do not do well with fear, some run when afraid, and others fight when afraid. Only those who can fight when afraid will survive the unknown.

If I ever find myself in a strange land, I believe very strongly that I will survive. I might go hungry for days, but I will not die. This is because I have been in that position before. I remember how it was for me three years after I had to drop out from school. I came back to this city with no place to stay, and even lost my luggages on the way. It was one of the most humble moments of my life. I saw a guy in my school who had accommodation and begged him to let me take the remainder of my luggages to his place and also allow me to sleep there at night for a month with the assurance that I would get my own food and not be in his space during the day. It wasn’t easy, I was always out looking for assignments to do for students or run errands for people just to get by everyday. At the same time I was also looking for a corporate job to help me with a stable source of income. I had not even discovered hive then and it’s been over 5 years now. I would say I am no longer in that position anymore.
If I did it then, I can figure out a way to do it if I ever find myself in a similar or worse situation. The idea is to observe my environment, then check out the easiest linear job available there. I trust by the time I stay for three days I would be able to land at least one linear job. I also have the advantage of being a man, thus I can sleep almost anywhere so long they ain’t killing people there. As long as I can eat, and sleep everyday, I will survive by looking for opportunities and grabbing them with both hands. If there is a skill I need, I will find a way to learn it. I do not mind serving a master to teach me a skill if I see all my skills are not useful there. I have done it in the past when I learned graphics design for two years. The idea is to learn and survive because this world is like a jungle and fortune could favour the brave.
