The issue this generation has is lack of experience. I have met a lot of Gen Zs who are just book intelligent but are street dumb. And please this isn’t coming from a place of anger but a place of concern. The reason why the millennials have issues communicating with Gen Zs is simply because one is talking from a place of experience and the other is just starting to experience life. One has made mistakes and failed, while the other has heard a lot of stories about mistakes made and failures encountered making them think they have all the knowledge they need but forget that knowledge and experience and two different things. If a civil war should break out now do you think The Gen Zs can fight? I bet the majority would start crying looking for mummy because every little thing already affects their mental health.

To fix this I believe we need to stop looking at the next generations as kids and start giving them opportunities to serve their community from a very early age. I believe they need to start learning how to make tough life decisions early and build their mental capacity to handle pressure, think through problems and prefer solutions. This would raise their confidence levels and help them understand life better. A lot of Gen Zs do not know how to talk or communicate without looking rude even when they show empathy it still looks rude. This is why I think a year of community service would serve as a good challenge and lesson to them. Making it compulsory will make them see life in a totally new light, especially for those who were handed everything on a platter.

Today I saw a girl walking in a particular direction but changed because a dirty looking man came asking her for money. Although I understand her fear, I was concerned because her issue with the man wasn’t that he was dangerous, it was simply because of how he looked and when I thought about it, I realized I used to be like that. But life taught me that the only difference between me and that man is that I was privileged to have the little I have and in the grand scheme of things, it’s really not an issue. But imagine if she had been doing lots of community service as a teenager, first we will have a clean environment, second she would learn that at the end of the day, she could be like that man if things played out differently for her because she would have mingled with a lot of people to really understand how life works. I am not one that believes anyone is useless, In fact I believe even the useless ones can be useful if they are open for help, and I learned these from actively working with people and seeing the dirtiest parts of life which is something a lot of people in this current generation would not be able to relate to, so long they can make money online, they are ready to shut out the outside world.
