I have an unpopular opinion about politics, which is that every candidate is a devil, so you better choose your hell because you will definitely pass through one. Politicians will always be politicians. I have come to understand that a lot of the things they say during campaigns are not really things they want to do but things their team has written down for them to say. This is what they call paparazzi and every good politician knows how to do this. Some may come into power and out of the goodness of their hearts do some extra ordinary things. But a lot of them do not even remember one of the things they said when they were campaigning for the position they are currently occupying. All they wish to do is enter power, after that they can figure things out. I guess for them it is a game of tenacity and sweet words and whoever can be more brutal and also have the sweetest tongue can win the position of power.

This is why a lot of us do not vote because one of the strategies these politicians use is using social media and the news media to make another politician look bad and not really to make themselves stand out. In Nigeria there are very few politicians who make themselves look so good without making others look bad and others target them and make them look bad, but at the end of the day it’s still about who has the sweetest tongue. Sometimes I choose not to really meddle in these politics because I do not have the time to really start analyzing the characters of these politicians and match it with their words. Words have power and politicians know how to use them, but when you can’t trust a person's word, you check their character and attitude.
This is why I do not believe anyone should be telling anyone who to vote. The same way we all know the bad person because the media has painted them so, is the same way we know the not so bad guy. At the end of the day, especially in a country like Nigeria, the bad guy ends up winning and there is nothing anyone can do about it. This is the politics in this part of the world, and if you do not have the heart, you will suffer for doing what is right. I do not even believe there is anything right in politics, it’s like the game of thrones, you either win or you leave. Those that can’t stand the heat can just find a way to leave, else they might even die in the process. Politics is a very dirty game, those who play it must either have dirty hands or really strong ones and that also goes for those putting people in power. They must have a very strong will, strong enough to not lose themselves when things do not go as planned and their candidate does not win.
