Some years ago, when I was still at home in the villa, an uncle, although late now, who lived in the same compound as us before moving to his house, had a memorable moment. On the day they were packing their belongings to the new house, we were all present, helping out. While bringing out some items from a deep spot, we came across a photo album of greyed black-and-white pictures. The photos were not interesting, and we were about to fling them away until the uncle called our attention. He pointed at a man in one of the pictures and said, "That is the man whose name we bear as our surname—that's my grandfather." Laughably, even my dad could not recognize the man in the picture.

We saw many things in those photos—how they took pictures with big music players in their hands, with big afros and leggings-like trousers. It was more like a time capsule, transporting us back to their era. As my uncle narrated some of the things he witnessed those forefathers do before they passed, we got a glimpse into their lives and history.

In response to this week's prompt about building a digital time capsule, I wonder how people will perceive the life I lived, particularly my digital life, 50 years from now. No lies—it is going to be fun and entertaining for whoever comes across it, depending on what they consider fun, of course.

My digital time capsule will contain my social media life. For a churchy guy in the offline world, it will be interesting for people to discover that, yes, I was deeply religious, but none of that was reflected in my social media presence. Yoh! I am not the type to go around posting gospel messages. In fact, I often tackled people who posted godly things while living the complete opposite in real life. I love this lifestyle!

Of course, if memes will still be trending in 50 years, people will know that I was a meme lord. Meme is life! My social media statuses were never about serious matters but rather things that made people laugh and forget about life's worries. Life is hard, and I was not among those who made it harder by posting serious things.

Beyond my social media life, people will also know how noisy I was when it came to FIFA or AFCON tournaments. They will learn that many of my friends muted me during those times because of my endless posts on social media.

The time capsule will also include my addiction to power banks. Currently, I own four power banks, and I am certain I will add more once I get the chance.

These power banks include two 20,000mAh, one 30,000mAh, and one 33,000mAh. I hate it when my phone dies, and because electricity is unreliable, power banks became my primary source of power.

The capsule must also contain my love for good gadgets, especially phones. After suffering with a particular Infinix phone I bought second-hand, I vowed never to buy a second-hand phone again. Even if it meant robbing a bank to afford a brand-new phone, I was ready for it. The phone I am currently using is the biggest and most expensive one I have ever owned, which is ironic because I once swore I would never spend so much on a phone. But I changed, and that became my lifestyle.

It would not be right to end this without mentioning my taste in music and how I used to make a lot of noise on social media about my favorite artists. The time capsule must definitely include the kind of music I danced to, played continuously on my phone, and blasted on my home music system at very high volumes. I am a lover of old music, and many artists who shaped my childhood have remained a part of me in adulthood. I am a devoted fan of Afrobeats.

Fifty years from now, whoever comes across my digital time capsule will get a clear picture of my vibrant, entertaining, and sometimes chaotic digital life. And I am sure it will be a fun and interesting discovery!

Thanks for reading.
