When I saw the topic “Game On Hive,” I had to pause for a moment because, honestly, I wouldn't describe myself as a gamer. I love trying different things, and I'm usually curious enough to explore something new, but when it comes to games, I have to admit that I haven't really put in the time and effort to understand how most of them work.
Maybe that is the real reason I haven't developed much interest in gaming yet.
There are so many games on Hive, and I know that people spend hours learning the mechanics, developing strategies, collecting items, completing quests, competing with other players, and working toward different achievements. I can appreciate the dedication that takes, but for me, getting started can sometimes feel like a lot.
You have to understand the rules, figure out what you are supposed to do, learn the controls, understand the different characters or items, and then somehow remember all of that while actually playing!
Sometimes I look at a game and think, “This looks interesting,” but after seeing everything involved, I end up thinking, “Maybe I will come back to this later.”
And then “later” becomes much later.
That doesn't mean I don't enjoy trying new things, though. In fact, I think curiosity is probably the biggest reason I would keep coming back to explore games on Hive. There is always the possibility of discovering something that catches my attention.
I also think my approach to gaming would be different from someone who is already an experienced gamer. I wouldn't necessarily be looking for the most competitive game or trying to climb a leaderboard immediately. I would probably start by finding something simple, understanding how it works, and gradually becoming more comfortable with it.
For me, the biggest challenge is probably taking the time to learn.
Sometimes we say we don't like something when the truth is that we simply haven't spent enough time understanding it. Games might be like that for me. Perhaps if I actually sat down, learned the mechanics, and gave myself enough time to get comfortable, I might discover that I enjoy them much more than I currently think.
I can definitely understand why games keep people coming back. There is the satisfaction of finally completing something difficult, improving your skills, discovering new items, achieving a personal goal, or even competing against other players. There is also the social side of gaming, where you can meet people, share experiences, exchange tips, and celebrate achievements together.
And then there is the simplest reason of all, Fun. Sometimes you don't need rewards or competition, you just want to relax and enjoy yourself.
So, while I can't claim to be someone who spends hours gaming on Hive, I am definitely someone who enjoys exploring and trying different things. Maybe my gaming journey is simply at the beginning.
Perhaps I need to stop looking at games as something I should already know how to play and start looking at them as something new that I can learn at my own pace.
Who knows, maybe one day I will find that one Hive game that finally gets me hooked.
