If there is a magic genie that could grant me just one wish, I will use my wish wisely, I wouldn't ask for money, fame, or a life of luxury. My wish would be simple, I would wish for peace to return to our land.
The reason is personal. Living with insecurity is mentally and emotionally draining. Every day, people wake up hoping that they and their loved ones will make it safely through the day. News of kidnappings, bandit attacks, and violence has become so common that many of us now live with a constant sense of fear.
What hurts the most is how this fear affects even the happiest moments in life. Recently, my brother and his wife welcomed a new baby. It should have been a time of celebration, family gatherings, and thanksgiving. Normally, I would have traveled to visit them and attend the child's dedication. Instead, I found myself thinking about the risks of traveling and the possibility of being kidnapped along the way. Imagine not being able to fully share in your family's joy because you are afraid for your safety. That is the reality many people are facing today.
There are days when family members leave home and we silently pray for their safe return. There are nights when every unusual sound outside makes people uneasy. Even when nothing happens, the fear never completely goes away. It follows you wherever you go.
That is why my one wish would be for all those terrorizing innocent people to disappear and for lasting peace to return. I want a future where people can travel freely without fear. I want farmers to work on their farms safely, children to attend school without worry, and families to celebrate important occasions together without thinking about security threats.
Peace is something many people take for granted until it is lost. When there is peace, businesses thrive, education improves, and communities grow stronger. People can focus on building their lives instead of simply trying to stay safe. Peace gives people hope and allows them to dream about a better future.
Some people would use their wish to become rich, and I understand why. But to me, wealth means very little if there is no peace. What is the point of having money when you cannot travel freely, sleep peacefully, or enjoy special moments with your loved ones?
So if a magic genie appeared before me and offered me only one wish, I would choose peace without hesitation. A peaceful society would bring happiness, security, and freedom to countless people. More importantly, it would allow families to celebrate life's precious moments together without fear. For me, there is no greater wish than that.
