Have you ever had a friend who was going through something really painful, something that made them feel like they didn't want to continue living?

I think situations like that can be difficult because you may not even know what to say. You may want to help them, but at the same time, you know that there is probably nothing you can say that will suddenly make everything okay.

Sometimes, all you can really do is stay. Stay with them, listen to them, let them talk about what is hurting them, even when you don't have an answer.

I believe this is one of the things that makes a deep friendship different. When you have known someone for a long time and you genuinely care about them, you don't always need to have the perfect words. Sometimes they just need someone who is willing to listen without judging them.

And listening is not always as easy as it sounds.

When someone is going through a very difficult period, they might repeat themselves. They might cry, they might become angry or quiet. They might not even know how to explain exactly what they are feeling. If you are their friend, you don't necessarily have to understand every part of their pain. You can simply let them know that they don't have to go through that moment alone.

I think sometimes we are too quick to give advice.

Someone tells us about their problems and immediately we start thinking about how to fix everything. We tell them that things will get better, that they should stay strong, or that they should try to think positively.

Of course, those things can come from a good place. But sometimes a person doesn't need advice at that particular moment. They just need to feel heard. There is a big difference between hearing someone and actually listening to them.

Listening means putting your phone away and giving them your attention. It means not planning your response while they are still speaking. It means allowing them to express things that may be difficult for them to say.

And when a friend tells you that they are thinking about dying, it should always be taken seriously. Being a good friend doesn't mean trying to handle everything by yourself. Sometimes the best thing you can do is stay with them and help them reach someone who is trained to help, whether that is a trusted family member, a mental health professional, or emergency support when there is immediate danger.

You don't have to be able to solve someone's entire life to make a difference. Sometimes just being present matters.

Sometimes sending a message to ask, "How are you really doing?" matters. Sometimes sitting quietly beside someone matters.

We may never know how much those small things mean to another person. Friendship isn't only about laughing together, going out, taking pictures, or celebrating good moments. Those things are beautiful, but I think the deeper part of friendship is also being willing to remain present when life isn't beautiful.

You cannot always remove someone's pain, you cannot always change what happened to them. But you can remind them that they are not completely alone.

And sometimes, being the person who stays and listens is one of the most important things you can do for someone you care about.

Thank for checking on my post and have a wonderful day
