Yesterday, I woke up to the kind of news no mother, no aunt, no family member should ever have to hear.

It was a normal morning. I woke up as usual, got ready, and started preparing breakfast for my children. Everything felt ordinary. Then, suddenly, my phone rang. It was my mom.

I wondered why she was calling so early. Usually, when she calls, she wants to check on us, ask about our health, or simply make sure everything is okay. That is part of her daily routine. But something about the timing of the call felt unusual. It was too early, and deep down, I felt a strange uneasiness. Still, I picked up.

After the usual greetings and pleasantries, my mom said something that my mind simply refused to understand.

My nephew, just 1 year and 8 months old, had died overnight.

There had been no sickness. No warning. No preparation. Nothing.

I honestly could not process her words. I asked her to repeat herself because, in that moment, it felt as though she was speaking a language I had never heard before. My mind kept rejecting what my ears were hearing.

“How could this be?” Just yesterday, he was here. A little child. So innocent. So full of life. And now gone.

I ended the call and immediately called my brother, his father. The moment he answered, I heard the sound of a father whose heart had been completely shattered. He was crying. And that was the moment everything broke inside me.

I could no longer hold myself together. I started crying too. I felt like I couldn't breathe. The pain was overwhelming, and I kept asking myself, How can a child just go to sleep and never wake up?

Then my thoughts turned to his mother. I called her, hoping somehow she would be able to speak, hoping maybe she would tell me this was all a terrible mistake.

But she couldn't, she was only crying. What words can possibly comfort a mother who has just lost her baby? What do you say to a mother whose arms are suddenly empty?

What do you say when the child she carried, nurtured, loved, and watched grow is suddenly no longer there?

There are some pains that words cannot explain. Some losses are simply too deep for language.

Yesterday, our family lost a beautiful little boy. A child who had barely begun to experience life. A child who had so much more growing, laughing, playing, and loving to do.

And today, we are left with questions, tears, silence, and a pain that feels impossible to carry.

This tragedy has reminded me once again that life is incredibly fragile. We make plans for tomorrow, we worry about little things, we postpone calls, visits, and moments with the people we love, forgetting that tomorrow is never promised.

Please, hug your children a little tighter today, call your parents, check on your siblings. Tell the people you love that you love them. Because sometimes, life changes in a single phone call.

Rest peacefully, my precious nephew. You were here for such a short time, but you will forever remain in our hearts.

May God give your mother, your father, your siblings, and our entire family the strength to survive this unbearable pain.

Sleep peacefully, little angel. You will never be forgotten. 🕊️💔

Thanks for checking on my blog and have a wonderful day
