I have been fascinated by "ant's eyeview" photography. I first did one on my trip to Arakawa River in Japan. It's a simple flower often ignored. From where I'm standing it's easy to miss.
Take a closer look and you'll discover beauty in a simple flower.
We are so big that it's easy to look past the small things all around us. Sometimes, slowing down and lowering our gaze can show something beautiful we did not expect. So everytime we go out, I take these "ant's eyeview" shots. The following photos were taken from our recent visit in Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center .
Look at the image above. At first glance, it's just moss, a fallen leaf and bits of rock. But pause for a moment and look closer. The vivid green of the moss, the golden leaf, curled in the greenery. This small scene is beautiful and peaceful. It’s a miniature world hiding in plain sight.
Nature is full of these overlooked wonders. We often appreciate views of sunsets, mountains, and oceans. On the other hand, we should also take notice of an entire landscape happening at ground level. The growth of moss, the play of light filtering through trees and landing on the forest floor.
These photos encourages us to pay attention. To kneel down and look closely. To appreciate the miniature scenes right under our feet.
So the next time you’re outdoors, take a moment to look down. There might be a scene like this waiting for you ready to be noticed.
