It was the time when we used to play games for fun and to pass the time, those were the days, but we did not know that a day would come when playing online games could earn us some real money. Time flies fast and it brought blockchain technology which gave us many Play-2-Earn gaming platforms where we can earn cryptocurrency just for playing those games and having fun at the same time.

Every gamer has a story behind playing a game within a community and it turns into a journey when that person becomes a long-term part of that game. When a game bonds someone with the gaming community, the person attaches it mentally and physically.
I'll talk about my Splinterlands journey in this post and share my experience with you. I hope you'll sure find it interesting and informative.

The Splinterlands Journey Starts
It was the winter of 2021 when I started exploring games that reward NFTs on Wax blockchain, I stumbled upon an app that actually works as a hub between Web2 games and blockchain to collect NFTs. I tried many interesting Web2 and Web3 games until early Spring, but one day the app offered me to play a trading card game named Splinterlands.
Since I had a flair for playing CCGs and TCG in the past, I thought of trying Splinterlands first. I played Splinterlands on mobile with starter cards and it picked my interest to advance further in the game and see how the rewards worked.
I read reviews about the game and watched videos about gameplay on YouTube. But, it only makes you skeptical when you read mixed reviews or watch too many videos, so I decided to dive into the game and experience the truth myself.
My Splinterlands journey started in April 2022, when I bought the Summoner's Spellbook by paying a $10 fee and entered into the magical world of a digital TCG on the Hive blockchain. I'd got a Hive account as a gift with my Summoner's Spellbook as well.

The Splinterlands Journey Continues
It's been almost one and a half years since I have been playing this game and enjoying game rewards and returns on my assets. I am part of a community that cares about its family members, I have met many amazing people on this journey and the support I received is truly heartwarming.
When I joined Hive and wrote my first article, I was wholeheartedly welcomed by @clove71, she is the kindest person and a mentor to me, she guided me in blogging about Splinterlands content, and I improved my writing skills on Hive because of her.
After spending some time, I met a gentleman and a down-to-earth guy @lorddiablo, who turned out to be my best bro here on Hive. His Splinterlands skills helped me a lot in learning the game mechanics. It was he who supported me in harsh times when league rewards were based on Collection Power (CP), he delegated me many of his best cards to increase my CP and improve my reward base.
I joined my first guild very late, but when I joined PeakMonsters Feeder6, I realized that I had lost so many SPS rewards, but everything happens on its own time. Currently, I am in "NO GUILD", I mean "NO Guild" is a guild in reality, but if you are not in a guild, you also see a "NO GUILD" tag under your game ID without a banner. The guild helps me receive MERITS and staked SPS as rewards, this is the way I receive a nice amount of staked SPS and buy Gladius cases.

Daily Drills
Splinterlands is an addictive game because of its rewarding potential, every win brings some rewards, still, I maintain a balance between my gaming life and personal life.
I play this game twice a day, I spend 10-13 energy per session, and each session takes no more than 45 minutes, I increase this time on weekends and spend some extra energy points on battles. 1 Energy point requires 1 hour to replenish, so 2 sessions in a day for Splinterlands look quite good, this way I can manage my time for Hive and personal activities smoothly.

A Rewarding Journey
Currently, I have Splinterlands card NFTs worth $144 excluding soulbound reward cards.

Card prices have dropped significantly, Chaos Legion packs are selling at less than 2 HIVE. So, it is the market sometimes high and sometimes low.
SPS rewards that I earn from battles, chests, staked SPS, and pools are pure profit on a daily basis. I spend half of my rewards on rentals and half goes to Splinterlands liquidity pool, and consider it a pure profit.

The above image shows my liquidity positions worth $86.7 which keeps growing every 2nd week from SPS rewards earned.
My initial SPS investment + rewards from guild brawls are shown in the following image.

I earn around 20 SPS from brawls per session, brawl spans 5 days, so on average, I receive 120 SPS from guild brawls in a month. SPS earnings from Brawls vary depending on certain factors, so they keep changing based on guild level, win/loss ratio, and other things.
I have almost nothing to pay for rented cards from my pocket, all rental payments are born by SPS earnings converted to DEC tokens. It means the game itself is paying for the expenses that I get from ranked battles. Isn't it nice?

What's Next
There are a lot of things to do in Splinterlands, the more you advance in the game the more you earn. So, I have some plans for my future endeavors in Splinterlands which I like to share with you.
- I want at least one level 3 or higher summoner in all elements.
- My second goal is to reach Gold I league in Wild format, currently it's Gold III.
- I'll participate in Conflicts to get some airdrop cards, therefore I am looking forward to buying some Rebellion packs and cards.
- Increasing Splinterlands liquidity pools regularly is also my priority goal, because the rewards from them are shared between rentals and staked SPS.
- My next priority is to collect funds for land and I want to have my own plot somewhere on the map of Praetoria.
I think it will take some time to reach my goals, as my foremost priority is to upgrade my cards and fight higher leagues.

What to Expect from the Game in the Beginning
Gamers who want to join Splinterlands or new players should do thorough research on the game ecosystem before joining the game because new players often find it difficult to even reach breakeven their Spellbook fee. But, they should not be worried even if they feel left behind, there are plenty of ways to grow and they can start earning and recovering their investments from day 1.
What you need to do if you are new to Splinterlands, here are some tips to follow.
1 - Splinterlands Spellbook gives a Hive account, use it for blogging, writing quality content, and winning upvotes.
2 - Join Social Media Challenge and Battle Mage Secret contests on Hive and if your post earns some good upvotes, I am pretty sure, you'll recover your initial $10 investment within the first week. Follow the @splinterlands account to receive regular updates.
3 - Join Splinterlands discord and obtain a Scholarship or even some delegated cards to start your game journey without renting or buying too many cards at once.
4 - Join a feeder guild as early as possible, feeder guilds don't ask for contributions and are good for new players. PeakMonsters feeder guilds are quite popular among novice players, as these guild don't ask for any type of contribution except playing regularly. Players can also look for other guilds in recruitment channel in Splinterlands Discord.
5 - Play in Modern format against other real players, because Modern format gives you better SPS rewards than Wild formats. It is a tough format because you can't use all the cards but worth trying for a good start.
I hope your future journey will become more profitable and you reach the highest ranks in the game.

Some Thoughts About My Journey
Splinterlands is a long journey, the game has a big lifespan, and there will be some ups and downs as crypto depends on market conditions. So, patience is the key, plan your movement, play along fair, and get your rewards regularly.
My pace might be slow but it is consistent and helps me grow my Splinterlands assets regularly, The journey I had started from investing $10 has grown to a handsome amount and keeps bringing rewards every day whether I play the game or not.
