It's often said that change is the only constant thing. A place can look the same for years.
Then one day, something changes, and suddenly it has an entirely different look.

That’s exactly what happened on this patch of land that houses a garden now. This is right by the wall of the defunct meteorological complex, opposite Obingwa Town Planning here in my city, Aba.

For years, the space just sat there, bare. Grass would grow, get cut, and grow again. But last year that changed.

The grass was cleared and I thought; "that's a normal routine." But when plants started showing up gradually, pots next, then a thatched shade went up, I knew change has finally come. 😂

What used to be an overgrown area slowly became not just a nursery but a garden of flowering shrubs, palms, and ornamental plants.

There are red Ixora flowers lined up. Spider plants with bright yellow-green leaves, Norfolk pine, Snake plant, Dracaerna, Areca palm. Including Hibiscus, Crotons, mixed shrubs, foliage plants and more.

There's also a section where they planted yams, vegetables and other crops in bags. This is just a complete garden.

Workers are there every day to water and arrange them. Each time I pass by and see how tend the flowers, I'd feel like stopping by to join them. Lol.

People now come to buy. A couple of times, I've seen cars loaded with palm tree nurseries, flowers and the likes.

Honestly, I'm excited to see this place transformed into a beautiful garden. It's given the entire environment a face-lift. The road looks cleaner. There's color everywhere! The air even feels a little fresher with all that green.

Let's not forget the economic part. Job creation, internally generated revenue for the state and so on.

All it takes is just a little change.

A spot that people used to pass without noticing now has something to look at. That’s how some changes happen. Not with big projects, but with one person deciding to use an empty space for something beautiful. Kudos to him.
