Pleasant greetings everyone. Happy new month to you all. We're already in the ninth month of the year, how fast the days fly. I hope you are doing just great. But if things aren't moving smoothly as envisaged, don't beat yourself up too much. Just know that things will fall into places when it's time to do so because everything has its own time. That's how nature made it and all we got to do is flow with it and let it take its course.

It's Taco Tuesday and Talent Tuesday and I have something special to share with us. I know your interest is piqued already just by reading special, hehehe. Well it's actually special because it is one of the beautiful gifts of nature to man. Oh here I go again talking about nature, lol. Pardon me but just bear in mind that I'm an unapologetic nature lover, take it to the clouds, lol.

Okay, here it is - Simple Process For Making Virgin Coconut Oil.

Just for the records, there are many other processes of making coconut oil but this is how I usually make mine and it always comes out good, fresh and natural, and can last for months. Since I learnt how to make coconut oil, I no longer buy from vendors. Infact it was my experience from the last purchase I made that prompted me to learn doing it myself. The oil was adulterated and I had to discard it. After that I said ciao to buying coconut oil and I'm glad I did as I've added another knowledge to other ones that I have.

In making coconut oil, you'll be needing

  • Mature coconuts. I used two sizeable ones.

  • Blender or grater

  • A little quantity of water

  • Drainer.

  • First break the coconut and remove the meat.

*Cut the meat into small pieces for easy blending. But if you're making use of local grater, you will skip it.

  • Next wash the coconut thoroughly.

  • After washing pour into the blender, add the little water and proceed to blend.

Note: Set the speed of the blender to the highest level for smooth blending.

See how it looks like after blending.

  • Blending done, pour all into the drainer and sieve. Ensure that you squeeze all the milk out.

See the outcome after sieving.

  • Next is to keep in the refrigerator for the milk to set. It can stay for a day or less before forming, all depending on how cool the refrigerator If there's no refrigerator, keep it in a cool place.

  • Now that the milk is finally formed, gently scoop them out.

  • The next step is heating up the coconut milk. Let the fire be on low heat and ensure to be close to mann it.

After it has heated for like fifteen to twenty minutes, you'll notice the oil will start coming out. Gently scoop the oil until finished and then turn off the heat.

Allow to cool, then pour into a tight container and use.

Benefits And Uses Of Coconut oil

Coconut oil is a plant based oil and contains some nutrients like Palmitic acid, Lauric acid (C12), Plant sterols,, Myristic acid, Medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), Monounsaturated fats and
Polyunsaturated fat.

It has so many benefits and can be used in various ways, namely;

As a moisturizing ingredient in hair care products:

Due to the high concentration of C12 it contains, using it on hair can greatly improve hair moisture, and reduce dandruff. It can also help in repairing dry hair, soften frizz making it shiny. Whether you use it as a conditioner, styling aid, or leave-in hair mask, your hair will be better for it.

As a moisturizing ingredient in skin care products

Some of the body creams and skin care products contain coconut oil. I can't use a cream that doesn't have coconut oil as one of the ingredients. Coconut oil serves as a good moisturizer for dry skins, clogs the pores and keeps it hydrated. It's also good for soothing skin irritation with the help of the C12 it contains.

It can also be used as a sexual lubricant:

This is especially for those who have allergies or sensitive skin. One beautiful thing about it is that it may not have side effects like causing irritation or infection.

It can equally be used as cooking fat

But ensure that you use it in moderation as it is high in saturated fat. Excess use may raise one's cholesterol level and pose a risk to the heart.

For dental hygiene:

Just by swishing coconut oil in your mouth for about 10-15 minutes and then spitting it out (oil pulling) can greatly help improve dental health.

Coconut Oil Storage

To ensure that your coconut oil lasts for a long time, keep it in the refrigerator or a dark place like the pantry, cupboard.
But when you notice that it has begun to smell, turn yellowish color, has mold or taste rancid, know that it has gone bad and shouldn't be used again.

That's all I've got for you today. I'm sure you got value from reading my post. Please do let me know. Keep an eye on this blog for more interesting contests. Gracias.
