A couple of months ago, I visited a client who’s into furniture making. He makes upholstery chairs, beds, kitchen cabinets, and more. In fact he's into full home décor.

Getting there, I met him busy at his work-table; teaching his boys how to cut, carve and shave a piece of wood. Hands-on training.

You know, there’s a lot we don’t see behind the finished pieces of furniture; the training, the patience, the craft, and more.

This is what real building is all about. Having someone older than you in the field saying: “watch how I do this, then you try.”

I couldn't help but take photos of them. Honestly, it was fascinating to watch someone pour skill into people who'll carry it forward.

And here are some of the photos I took. In fact, I was inspired to capture them in momomad.

Cutting the wood.

The point at which he said: hope you're getting what I'm doing? This shot is epic. 😂

Giving out some shaving tips first.

Here we go, let's get the damn shavings out. Lol.

Mastery isn’t loud. It’s teaching the basics until they become second nature.
