Hello, hive people most welcome to my blog. Crypto adoption is increasing in the world and that day is not far away when famous shopping websites like Amazon, Flipkart, and others start accepting Bitcoin and crypto as payment methods and this time is not far ahead. Anyway talking about the recent development then it is coming from Europe. To upgrade Toulouse's modern transportation system it has launched a sweeping initiative by becoming the first city in France to accept cryptocurrencies and bitcoin for public transportation and metro payments this was started on March 17, 2025, and this information is according to multiple reports.
Europe's first: Toulouse Metro adopts Bitcoin and cryptocurrency payments
Tisséo, a public transport operator of Toulouse city, introduced crypto and bitcoin payments for metro, tram, bus, and cable car services and this happened on March 17, 2025. Under this great initiative, users who are using transport facilities can buy tickets on Android devices and for this, they have to use the Tisséo mobile app because this app instantly converts bitcoin and over 70 other cryptocurrencies into euros very easily and efficiently. Also, this facility allows Tisséo to avoid market volatility in cryptocurrency while the public can use digital assets to pay for fares.
There is a partnership of fintech firm Lyzi and crypto exchange platform Binance and Payments are processed through this partnership. Talking about the price of one ticket then it costs around 0.000024 BTC which is around €1.80, with options for subscriptions available and multi-passenger passes. There is one problem and that is the system excludes iOS users, which could create accessibility issues for those users.
Toulouse's model is similar to Argentina
However, there is one more issue but it is not a big deal so according to form 3916-twenty, users must declare the transactions on tax I think this can complicate small purchases and yes these transportation expenses are small purchases. Talking about another risk then it is crypto Price fluctuations during the transition also. Toulouse city's model is similar to systems that we are seeing in Argentina and do you know? In Argentina, 37 cities had adopted cryptocurrency transit payments by the 2019 year, but it marks a European first.
Prior French efforts, such as Isiline's 2016 bitcoin trial which was a bus company, lacked municipal scale. If done correctly, Toulouse's success could spur wider European cryptocurrency adoption but as I talked about the problems problematic tax hurdles and Android exclusivity will likely slow the pace.
So there are challenges but when we see the benefits then these challenges are nothing that's why it is good to work towards the solutions because this is the technology which built to help humanity. Please share your important opinion in a comment and also share this information. Thanks and goodbye for now.
