I work in a neighborhood called Escandón. It's practically next to Roma and Condesa. While there are some exceptions, most of the businesses in the area remain true to their roots. Having said that, it comes as no surprise to find places such as fondas, which are small diners that serve traditional homemade Mexican food at low prices. The one I usually attend is called "Barro Negro". I enjoy eating there because the price is right and the food is really good, but down deep, I know that I like it there because it reminds me of my childhood and the time I spent at my grandma's.
