Near my house there is a fairground where activities and fairs of all kinds take place. These days we were passing by and we learned that a dog show was being held and that you could also enter freely just by paying the entrance fee. Although we had not planned it, we decided to enter without thinking twice because we are animal lovers.
Upon entering we began to observe dogs of different breeds, small, medium and large, all very well cared for and trained, some were resting in their cages, others were being groomed for their presentation in the competition.

Cerca de mi casa se encuentra un recinto ferial donde se realizan actividades y ferias de todo tipo. En estos días pasábamos por ahí y supimos que se estaba celebrando una exposición canina y que además se podía entrar libremente solo pagando la entrada. Aunque no lo teníamos previsto nos decidimos a entrar sin pensarlo dos veces porque somos amantes de los animales.
Al entrar comenzamos a observar perros de diferentes razas, pequeños medianos y grandes, todos muy bien cuidados y adiestrados, algunos estaban descansando en sus jaulas, a otros los estaban acicalando para su presentación en la competencia.
I was able to observe that the owners of the animals bring with them all the accessories that are necessary for the dog to feel well, they have water, food and even fans because the temperature is very high. All the animals seemed very calm, accustomed to being at this type of events. I didn't see any fight between them.
When I saw the logos of the event I could see that it was an international event where the International Cynological Federation and the Cuban Cynological Federation participated. There were judges from both Cuba and other Latin American countries who evaluated the dogs in groups according to their breed, reviewing their characteristics, which have to be in accordance with the breed, evaluate their behavior, their obedience and also watch them trot to see their general physical condition.
In the competition they were evaluating three categories: babies, youth and adults. They selected the 4 best and gave a trophy cup to the first place winner, as well as a bag of food as well as the 3 remaining places.
Pude observar que los dueños de los animales traen consigo todos los aditamentos que hacen falta que el perro se sienta bien, tienen agua, comida y hasta ventiladores porque la temperatura es muy alta. Todos los animales se mostraban muy tranquilos acostumbrados a estar en este tipo de eventos. No vi ninguna pelea entre ellos.
Al ver los logotipos del evento pude ver que se trataba de un evento internacional donde participa la Federación Cinológica Internacional (FCI) y la Federación Cinológica de Cuba (FCC), había jueces tanto cubanos como de otros países latinoamericanos que evaluaban los perros por grupos según su raza, revisaban sus características, que tienen que estar acorde con la raza, evalúan su comportamiento, su obediencia y también los ven trotar para ver su estado físico general.
En la competencia estaban evaluando tres categorías: bebes, jóvenes y adultos. Seleccionaban los 4 mejores y le daban una copa trofeo al ganador del primer lugar, también una bolsa de alimento al igual que a los 3 lugares restantes.
I got to know the Havanese Bichon up close, which is the only native Cuban dog breed. It is a small dog that has a very silky and long coat that must be brushed daily so that knots do not form. His caregiver told me that he is very sociable and playful. He was very calm observing everything around him, it seems that he is used to participating in these fairs where there are many dogs of different breeds and many people crowded in the place.
Conocí de cerca al Bichón habanero que es la única raza de perro autóctona cubana, es un perro pequeño que tiene un pelaje muy sedoso y largo que hay que cepillarlo diariamente para que no se le formen nudos. Me dijo su cuidadora que es muy sociable y juguetón. Estaba muy tranquilo observando todo a su alrededor, se ve que está acostumbrado a participar en estas ferias donde hay muchos perros de distintas razas y muchas personas aglomeradas en el lugar.

I saw many beautiful dogs, very well cared for and they looked docile, but I was afraid of some like the Rottweiller, Pitbull and Boxer, I have respect for them because if they get uncomfortable they can be very fierce.
Vi muchos perros bellos, muy bien cuidados y se veían dóciles, pero a algunos les tenía miedo como los Rottweiller, Pitbull y Boxer, les tengo respeto porque si se incomodan pueden ser muy fieros.
I saw a Greyhound and a Great Dane for the first time. The Greyhound was very calm but the owner of the Great Dane told me not to go near him and I was terrified, I took the photo and moved on.
Vi por primera vez un Galgo y un Gran Danés. El Galgo estaba muy tranquilo pero el dueño del Gran Danés me dijo que no me acercara a él y me dio terror, le tomé la foto y seguí adelante.
Dalmatians are beautiful, now that I am writing this post I remember that many years ago my neighbor and friend had a Dalmatian who was very sociable, but you had to respect him because sometimes he got upset, that's why I prefer to keep my distance because they are animals after all. of everything.

I did not see other races that we have here, perhaps because they were presented the day before, this time it was the second and final day of the competition.
The largest number of dogs we have in Cuba are called Satos because they are mixed breeds, they should almost be a breed because they have a similar phenotype and behavior, they are very affectionate, friendly and are very good guardians because they bark at any threat or intrusion in your space.
I also think that it is very important to have an organization that promotes the breeding of purebred dogs to ensure that the different breeds with their distinguishing characteristics are maintained. We know that dogs have different abilities, some are good guardians, others are necessary for the company of the elderly, people with visual impairment or other disabilities, also those that are ideal for children and those that specialize in rescue and tracking work. and they are co-workers of the police.
In our daily lives it does not matter if the dog is a breed or not, when we have them at home we love them as another member of the family, they are not only a friend but one more family member who must be cared for, fed and ensure their well-being. They make us happy with their love and unconditional loyalty.

La mayor cantidad de perros que tenemos en Cuba se les llaman Satos porque son mestizos, ya casi deberían ser una raza porque tienen un fenotipo y un comportamiento similar, son muy cariñosos, amistosos y son muy buenos custodios porque ladran ante cualquier amenaza o intrusión en su espacio.
También pienso que es muy importante contar con una organización que fomente la crianza de perros de raza para garantizar que se mantengan las diferentes razas con sus características que las distinguen. Sabemos que los perros tienen diferentes habilidades, unos son buenos guardianes, otros son necesarios para la compañía de ancianos, personas con deficiencia visual u otras discapacidades, también los que son ideales para los niños y los que se especializan en las labores de rescate, rastreo y son compañeros de labor de la policía.
En nuestra vida cotidiana no importa si el perro es de raza o no, cuando se tienen en casa se quieren como un integrante más de la familia, no solo es un amigo sino un familiar más que hay que atender, alimentar y asegurarles su bienestar. Ellos nos hacen felices con su cariño y lealtad incondicional.
Es mi deseo que hayan disfrutado al ver las diferentes razas de perros que les presenté aquí y que tuve la dicha de admirarlos bien cerquita.
