It's 6:05 in the morning and I am half awake because I can hear the sound of the front door opening.
"That must be mum", I say feeling no surprise.
She has always been the first to wake up, even long before some people would decide to sleep.
"I don't sleep", mum will always say.
And her sleep style matches her words almost all the time.
I have a few things planned for the day and one of them is waking up early to get started, as early as 6am. So mum going out the front door was the alarm I had planned to use and it has worked.
While I am sitting on my work desk to get started with my plans, mum walks in with an empty bucket. She had just gone to hang out the clothes she washed last night, it is a routine for her.
She pauses my work as she starts to sing for our morning devotion, a ritual we do together in the mornings. I join her and she leads in the prayer. While I am back in what I am doing at my desk, mum is stretching her body in different styles.
She is my daily reminder to get on track with my home work outs so I get to it after I am done with my work at the desk. Mum comes in from the kitchen with a cup of warm tea, tea from health boosters herbs she combined herself. Mum's a nurse. A nurse that promotes herbs over drugs?
"Drink it, drink it warm, drink all, it's good for you".
Mum will say and stay next to me till I empty the drink into my stomach.

I feel lighter, energized and more ready for the day after the drink. And mum goes on to prepare warm water for bath, while breakfast is getting ready. After bath, I wait for her so we could have breakfast together, mum hardly ever eats alone.
Breakfast time takes longer because mum is still cleaning a space in the kitchen and then outside the house, complaining about the negligence of her neighbours but still doing what the neighbors should be doing for themselves. Mum is selfless.
We finally have our breakfast, a delicious meal mum had prepared with the few ingredients available at home. I still wonder how she makes delicious meals especially on days when there's little to manage, she will say "It's experience".
There is nothing much to do for the day but somehow, my mum is busy with something in her wardrobe and the next hour, she is busy with her garden next to our window where the sun rests a lot. She waters her healthy aloe vera as she sings one song repeatedly with her soprano voice.
While I go about my personal activities since mum has taken over all the works in the house, mum continues to find a thing to do in the house or outside. Even when I suggest she rests, she would find the perfect excuse why she can't rest yet... "Look how dusty this cabinet is, I should clean it first". She says and is off to work again.
Well, I let her get to it while I prepare lunch. It's a quick meal but mum is in the kitchen now giving remarks on the preparation, making sure I'm doing it the way we'd both enjoy it. Mind you, I am a good cook but mum is way better so I let her.

After lunch, I am about to rest a bit and it's not that I've done much in the day but somewhere outside by the door, mum is picking dirts from the beans we had recently bought. She prefers having her beans cleaned so she doesn't have to do that work on the days she wants to prepare the beans meal. I go to join her in assistance.
We finish that and I ask her to come inside to rest but a neighbor in the wrong timing called out to her asking for the help of a nurse. Mum puts on her nurse attitude and gets set with drugs and injections for her patient. I always admire how fast she works in making sure one is okay again.
Before mum returns, it's late in the evening and we're both preparing for dinner, taking walks and bathing before bed time. The only time I see mum resting is when we go in together after the walk and bath, after our night devotion and the chats before sleep comes. Mum has super strength but I don't think she knows she does.
