Like I read in a post earlier, some things never change and I totally agree with that. One of those is, families in business. Even at some point, a member of a family is seen as evil or wicked when he doesn't connect his or her relatives to a potential job, not minding if they are qualified for it or not. Positions mostly come through connect.

It's been like that right from beginning, there is the joy of having your family members working towards the same purpose with you and they are good at it. It brings about a growing wealth and togetherness among the family members. Even aside families, there are also random people who get connections because of what they did before.

I can still remember how families started businesses and grew the businesses because they all worked together, teaching the children how it's done and passing it down to them. It's worth noting that people from outside the business who are interested in getting a role are interested because the business has grown big.

Struggling businesses won't have people wishing the owners don't use nepotism because they won't even go near joining such business. But when it goes big and the business is worth millions, we start seeing people applying and complaining about being sidelined for the people the owners know best, especially if they're good.

Nepotism is not wrong if the owners of these positions, status or jobs choose to give it to who they think would play a better role in them. Although, that is subject to human mistake and missing out on an even better person for the job who isn't a family or relative. So for me, I'll say nepotism should be for only the capable relative.

I don't see why a family member should be considered for a job, position or status just for the pay and honour that will come to it and not for the fact that they are capable to carry out the duties or tasks assigned to that level they are being raised to through family influence. If it's not for that reason, nepotism would be done wrongly.

And yeah, people would affected by this advantage because they are not given a chance to prove that they are a better choice for a business or campany or a position effectiveness. Even with that, it still doesn't mean nepotism should be criminalized, I think that would be going too far and unfair to capable relatives too.

Although I don't think it's okay to utilize every advantage at one's disposal, it's why we have humanity. These family members have friends, they see potentials, they know what's best for an opportunity on ground. This is where they should give it to who's more capable and they do with what they have, not just take every single thing.

I'll say that's the too far that it shouldn't get to. Hoarding every opportunity just because it's at your disposal, would be going too far. Being considerate to other qualified people outside the family or circle should be a thing for people who have met with good opportunities a lot of times.
