I have just concluded one of the series I had on my list from 2025 kdrama releases. It is one series I was fully inspired by "Strong woman bong-soo" to see because of "Park Hyunk-sik" who starred in a new role compared to what I've seen him play before. He has always been the cute and very romantic type in the other stories.
To see him in a thriller like this was refreshing and quite unexpected. I've seen a few clips from the series before I decided to see it but it was like those clips didn't do justice to how awesome the lead character (Park Hyunk-si) is in the story. I didn't need any recommendation to see this series when I found out about the cool cast list.

"Buried Hearts" as I've said is one of the 2025 Korean drama releases, it is also a Disney production, a thriller that combines politics, love and mystery in one story for an exciting watch. If it's left to me, I would skip the romance aspect from this series but it kinda gave sense to some action take by the lead character (Seo Dong-joo).
Dong-joo, close and loyal to a chaebol family, hacks a secret political slush fund of 2 trillion to survive. He is faced with many death threats especially from an elite figure (Yeom Jang-seon) and have to survive through betrayals and chaos as he fight his way up to climb the ladder to success in the chaebol family's Daesan Group.
In his personal life, he is heartbroken when he finds out his girlfriend who he had planned to propose to, gets married to his long term enemy. With his life threatened, he takes risky moves in attempt to bring down the political crimes and get together again with his love who was waiting.

Believe me when I say this series actually started off in a way you'd think it's just another romantic story, they caught me there until the main drama started. I'll say things got heated right from the wedding day of Dong-joo's girlfriend to another person for power and company shares. I thought it was the drive he needed to get big things done.
I must say "Park Hyung-sik" as Dong-joo continued to steal the show in every scene he was shown (he's the protagonist after all). The next cast has to be the main villain and even though I hated his evil ways and I was very curious how things would end badly for him, I can't ignore that he is the perfect one for the role.
The female lead (Hong Hwa-Yeon as Yeo Eun-nam) was quite dull for her role but I think that made the protagonist shine brighter, she made some unnecessary moves which I know were just her role but I couldn't bring myself to enjoy seeing it. You know those scenes you fast forward, she is one of the characters in those kind of scenes.
Bad news for me is, the season didn't end well and so we are expecting a season two. Good news is, it has no boring episodes and it is a story anyone would love to know how it goes. I hope they release the next season early enough but until then, I'll keep it in mind and move on to the next series. It's a story you shouldn't miss.
There's a lot to learn, thrills to keep you excited, little touches of comedy and revenge plan that brings about mysteries to solve. I had a nice time on this one and I recommend it if you want some good kdrama to see, I'll give it a rating of 8/10.
