The Millennium Hilton building stood right beside the Twin Towers on 9/11 and looks like the black monolith (wiki) from the Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

In fact, the Millennium hotel still has that number on their Contact Us page! 😮
Furthermore, the 2001: A Space Odyssey movie includes a scene on the Moon that looks a lot like the WTC during cleanup after 9/11... 😮
And since year 1 is the start of the calendar, it means that 2001 is the start of the new millennium. 😲
