Due to various real-life commitments, work pressure, and personal issues, I hadn't been able to devote regular time to my favourite game, Splinterlands, over the past few days. While I used to log in daily, play battles, and participate in guild activities, the last few days seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye. Even though I was temporarily away from the game, my interest in it hadn't waned in the slightest. So, as soon as I found a moment of leisure today, I logged straight into the game. Honestly, getting back into my favourite game after such a long time brought me a great sense of mental peace.
After logging in, my eyes naturally gravitated toward the guild section. Upon entering the guild, I noticed that a significant amount of Merits had accumulated. Those of you who play Splinterlands surely know that participating in Guild Brawls and maintaining guild activity regularly yields Merits as rewards. Seeing these accumulated Merits, I thought there was no point in just letting them sit there; instead, I decided to use them to buy and open some Gladius Cases. Gladius cards are generally much more powerful than standard cards, and in Brawl battles or matches with special rulesets, they can turn the tide of the game in an instant.
I checked the shop and found that my account held a total of 11,809 Merits. Since each Gladius Case costs 2,000 Merits, I decided to purchase five packs at once, costing me a total of 10,000 Merits. However, alongside buying the packs, I kept one thing in mind: using pack boosters significantly increases the chances of pulling better cards compared to opening standard packs alone. So, I purchased some Blood Stones and Power Stones from the guild store. Thanks to our guild lodge's high level, I received an 8% discount on the purchase. Blood Stones essentially double the chances of obtaining a Legendary card, while Power Stones increase the likelihood of getting a Gold Foil card. I acquired 25 Blood Stones for 1,375 Merits and 25 Power Stones for 1,850 Merits so that these boosts would automatically apply when opening the 25 cards contained in these five packs.
With all preparations complete, I headed straight to the card-opening section. Only a regular gamer can truly understand the unique thrill that comes with opening packs. I began opening them one by one:
I was absolutely astounded the moment I opened the first pack! Right off the bat, I pulled a magnificent Gold Foil card—'Isgald Vorst.' It is an exceptional Water-element melee attack card equipped with the Bloodlust ability. In this same pack, I also found two Rare cards: Cotripus Bane and Orella Abaddon. Landing a Gold Foil card right at the start really lifted my spirits.
My excitement doubled after opening the second pack, as I discovered 'Quora Towershead'—one of the best Gladiator cards in Splinterlands and a personal favourite of mine. It is an Epic Earth-element card. Quora is a powerhouse capable of healing while simultaneously launching both magic and melee attacks; she is often enough on her own to win a Brawl battle. Along with her, I also got Bartroll Gobson and a second copy of the standard Isgald Vorst.
Upon opening the third pack, I pulled a Rare ranged card named Liza Fox, accompanied by Chimney Wallstop and Whistling Demon. The Chimney Wallstop card also plays a very effective role within the Fire Splinter.
In the fourth pack, Crash Wanderford, Alfredo (Rare), and Catrellba Gobson were added to my collection. I simply must mention the Catrelba Gobson card; its Double Strike and Sneak Attack abilities prove incredibly useful in brawls.
In the fifth and final pack, I once again pulled Catrelba Gobson, along with Alva the Crusher, Whistling Demon, and another Liza Fox card.
All in all, securing an excellent Gold Foil Rare card, a highly anticipated Cora Towershead Epic card, and several essential Rare and Common Gladiator cards from just five packs makes this opening session a complete success for me. Returning to the game after a long hiatus and receiving such great rewards is truly encouraging. These new cards will significantly strengthen my guild brawl deck.
