In the world of Splinterlands, players often have a soft spot for Dragon-element cards. The primary advantage of Dragon cards is their versatility; they can be paired with any other element of your choice in battle. The Dragon collection features many powerful units capable of single-handedly dictating the outcome of a match. Today, I will discuss one such remarkable card: the Redwyrm Dragon. It is an Epic-rarity card, boasting both an eye-catching design and impressive combat capabilities.

At first glance, the Redwyrm Dragon stands out with its striking red appearance and the vivid imagery of flames erupting from its maw. Its performance on the battlefield is just as compelling as its design. With a mana cost of 9, it is virtually unusable in low-mana matches; however, in medium- or high-mana battles, it serves as a formidable asset for your team. Rather than focusing solely on swift destruction, this card excels at enduring on the battlefield, helping to secure victory through its longevity.

At Level 1, the card enters the fray with a magic attack stat of 2. While its initial speed is also 2, it is exceptionally robust defensively, possessing 5 armor and 7 health—allowing it to withstand a total of 12 hits. Unlike many powerful cards that are quickly eliminated, the Redwyrm Dragon remains in play for an extended period, thanks to its impressive health and shield.
Perhaps the best part is that it comes with two highly useful abilities right from Level 1. The first is the "Flying" ability; this grants it a 25% chance to evade standard melee and ranged attacks from opponents. Furthermore, 'Earthquake' is one of the most dangerous rulesets in Splinterlands, where non-flying monsters take damage every round. However, since this dragon can hover in the air, it can continue battling through an Earthquake ruleset without sustaining any damage.

Its second ability, 'Immunity,' makes it even more formidable. Often, powerful cards become weakened—and are quickly eliminated—due to poison or various negative magical debuffs. The Redwyrm Dragon, however, is unaffected by any harmful magical debuffs or 'cripple' effects. Consequently, it can always fight at full strength, which often proves to be a decisive factor in major tournaments or ranked matches.
For those looking to upgrade this card over time, it offers some impressive progression. Its evolution from level one to level six is quite remarkable; as the card’s level increases, its speed, armor, and health all improve significantly. Although its magic power remains capped at two throughout—which is a slight drawback—its other stats more than compensate for this. By the time it reaches levels five and six, its speed climbs to five and six respectively, while its health rises to ten and eleven. As a result, at higher levels, it becomes highly adept at evading enemy attacks.

Most importantly, upon reaching level five, the Redwyrm Dragon unlocks a new ability called 'Stun.' With this ability, every time the dragon attacks an opponent's card, there is a 50% chance that the target will become stunned—effectively frozen in place. If a key enemy card is prevented from taking its turn for a round, it can shift the entire momentum of the match in your favor. This is an ability that can turn the tide of a difficult or nearly lost match in an instant.
Strategic placement of this card on the battlefield is key. Since its attack is magical in nature, it can strike from any position. However, thanks to its high armor and health, many players utilize it in the second position as an 'off-tank.' Should the primary tank fall, this dragon steps forward, acting as an impenetrable wall—buying precious time for the ranged or magic-wielding units positioned behind it to launch their own attacks. It proves particularly effective in matches featuring bonus armor rules or 'Earthquake' combat conditions, where it can single-handedly carry the team.
In short, while the Redwyrm Dragon might not be a permanent fixture in every deck, deploying it at the right moment can yield extraordinary results. Its attack power may not be exceptionally high, but its remarkable survivability, flight capability, and knack for stalling opponents make it a truly reliable combatant. For those of you who frequently play with dragon-themed teams, this card is definitely worth a try. It has been a pleasure sharing this experience with you; I look forward to discussing another card with you all soon!
